2010 GT500 Spy Shot

Looks like the headlights are different. Possibly a different, more raised hood. And finally from what else I can see the mirrors finally get some color on them.

The Jack-Ass who wrecked that Enzo was let go.

Yup, insurance scamming, car thieving idiot boy was let free. In the end there was nothing much to be done.(click image for story)

Better than morning coffee...

I made myself a new challenge this morning...from the 405 to 10 on ramp and until the Robertson exit...I could not go less than 110mph or I would explode.......I was successful.   A Shelby V8 at a constant 5700rpm is what it must be like when God's children sing to him.

Ford to sell off Volvo via auction?

Autoblog with the scoop....

Another Clarkson DVD?

I am seeing clips of Clarkson reviewing cars around the private Ascari test track. One of the cars he reviews is the new Ascari but he runs through about half a dozen or so.

If anyone has any information on this please leave a comment. I'd love it if it's yet another stand alone DVD film of his. Like "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" or "Heaven and Hell".

Ran into a new Rfactor mod and wanted to let the sim racing fans in on it. It is carrera.4's F1 1988, and as might be expected, is based on the Formula 1 season of that year. Let me start by saying I am very impressed that such a mod was assembled by a one man show. It is a good bit of kit. The first thing I have to point out is that the mod is not yet complete as some of the cars are missing, and the same mediocre sound is used for every one. The look and feel of that era, however, is captured wonderfully. Furthermore, the cars are quite forgiving to drive, which will more than likely lead to some nice wheel to wheel racing. Now if our little Rfactor group ever gets together again for an evening of online racing, I suggest we try this one out.

BSR Forums are up! Rejoice! Join!

You should notice a link to the right for the forum. Please go and join. Discuss!

BSR members please continue to post daily or weekly or in some user's cases MONTHLY here. After all this is RSS fed and easy to put images in. This is still HOME, let there be no confusion.

But I encourage a link in a blog post to a forum post for further user discussion. That way BSR fan boys can debate you in the forums instead of through the comments system.

i.e.

Blog Subject: Ferrari Sucks!
Blog Message: Hey so yeah man, Kimi is a Weeny! Further discussion here! (and the 'here' would be a hyperlink to your post in the forums.

550hp CADDY. The new 2009 CTS-V

I have been a fan of the CTS and more importantly the CTS-V since their launch. I was very impressed by what us yanks were finally able to do in the luxo-sport-sedan area. With the introduction of the new CTS I was standing by to be impressed by the CTS-V and sure enough, I AM!

The car just looks MEAN yet reasonable. Like you could go out and slaughter fellow stock brokers but then calmly drive home (with their heads in the trunk) and kiss the children on the forehead all without blinking.

This guy got tired of waiting for the 'sports' electric car.

Why don't people understand America is a country built on Capitalism and not Socialism?

From day one the entire countries plan of action is...come here and make it. Make as much money as you can anyway you can and become self reliant. That's it. That's what America is.

I don't know why people sit here and think that America is anything else. When it has never shown in it's history or founding to be anything else?

Sure the country has conceeded here and there. We do have public programs and some systems in place to take care of those who can't make their own million. We should be lucky to have even that!

If you don't like what Amercia really is then this is not the country for you. Living in America is VERY HARD. It is not an easy country to suceed in. But once you do there are many things in place to make being "on the top" fun and easy. And then you can spread some of that wealth to those in need if you really must. It's your right.

So get off your socialist apple box and get busting on some Capitalism!

Like this guy.....

(see and you thought this was a non car related political ambush post only didn't you?)

65 mpg and easy street parking

Wow. A car like this would make life in SOCAL far more livable as far as the daily commute goes. Easy to park, uses very little gas, put some 20's on it and be PimP. (okay maybe not)

Clarkson eats his own words...

Sometimes it's just best to AGREE.

The Terrorists Have Won

Everyone knows that January is a down time in racing but there was always one race we could count on, one that lasted two weeks and several thousand miles. That race is the Dakar Rally, the toughest most grueling event in motorsport. It has claimed countless lives and cars throughout it's long history and yet each year hundreds of competitors line up in chase of glory that is usually reserved for immortals. They weave buggys, SUV's, 4 ton trucks and even motorcycles up and down building sized dunes, dirt roads, wet weather. It doesn't matter, if it's there they drive through it or over it. A true test of man and machine, nothing is tougher.

I've watched this race every year since I was a child. Even though I'm an open-wheel fan this race is just as high on my list as Monaco or Long Beach, I love it. Where else can you get two straight weeks of one exciting race? However this year I will not be sitting in front of the TV watching the Speed coverage, none of us will. The 2008 race has been canceled due to terrorist threat.

For the first time in its 30 year history the Dakar Rally will not be run. It seems that the race is offensive to certain terrorists who say it does not bring any sort of advantage to the local economies and is harmful to the local people, more specifically Mauritania. While people are suggesting changing the route or moving the race date the organizers have no such plans for that, instead, they are simply canceling the race for this year. As such, the several hundred teams, drivers, mechanics and the millions of dollars of sponsorship have nothing to do this January.

Let's hope this doesn't kill the race forever and that it comes back next year. This race is as important as Le Mans and Monaco or the Indy 500, the racing world needs it and so do the fans.

V8 Supercars in Australia

Watched the madness of the V8 Supercars last night in Bathurst (link provided by Trackpedia).

These guys are insane! They fly around at 180mph in nose heavy V8s on a road course barely big enough to fit two wide. In some areas you absolutely cannot fit two wide. It's a winding twisty course that spends the worst of it as a hellish climb up a mountain then down in to a 300kph straight. Then a HUGE smash on the brakes to take a gnarly left hander.

I was rooting for team Vodafone/Ford of course and they won, but barely. They were assured a second spot on the podium and would have been quite happy with that. The battling in the last 15 laps was just down right terrifying. However the leader got over zealous on the aforementioned gnarly turn and slid wide. He fell back to TWELTH in an instant.

From kissing the prom Queen to shoveling her shit in a blink of an eye. Sadly, just a couple laps later, he DNF'd. Man oh man.

Anyway this let Vodafone/Ford keep a good 10sec lead and win it. The battle for 3rd was pretty hot as well. All Fords took the podium so that was pretty cool.

One thing I forgot to mention is those last insane 15 laps for the finish...well they were done in the WET with everyone on SLICKS. Since the call was never made to bring them all in. It was NUTS but some of the best racing with "big cars" I have seen.

I am just glad SOME kind of real racing is on TV again. Even if it's at 2am on Speed with stupidly placed commercial breaks.

Qs Shelby GT review

Well I've been tooling around in the car now for a bit. Taken it out on the mountain twisties. Done the required power merging in LA morning rush hour traffic and all is well.

First thing I noticed coming from my old "track prepped" Stang is obviously the softer suspension. No, softer is the wrong word. "Compliant" is better. What amazes me most is how taut and solid the car handles yet doesn't make your head spin. All the expansion joints and cracks on the 405 are easily absorbed yet there is very little adventure when you hit hard on the brakes or cut quickly to another lane. Impressive. Nose dive is pretty much non-existant for all except the most severe emergency stop.

Acceleration is quite brisk. Granted my previous ride's 490hp blows this Shelby away BUT that old car was an automatic. So this Shelby's short shifter (Hurst) 5-speed balances that out. It's not that it feels quicker with a manual it just feels about the same. The pin you in to the BACK seat torque is not there, though. It just pins you to the front seats with its 335hp.  :)

The sound...this is something I was surprised by. My old car had Corsa's. A truly mean and aggressive exhaust. The ones Shelby bolts up are quite muted in comparison. However they end up sounding more exotic, more like an Aston Martin's V8 rumble. Of course none of this comes to life until around 4000rpm. It takes this exhaust quite a high rpm to come to life. In the end I like it. The reward is a sexy sounding deep vibrato that makes you feel like you've joined the Darkside.

One thing is for certain; I--loveS MeS--the manual! Having a 5-speed again is just too much boyish fun. The 235 wide tires don't stand a chance. My old car had 275s to get all that 490hp to the road and it made a huge difference in traction. Now it's just spin and slide.

Ford and more importantly Shelby, you've done good. A very modern and performing American Muscle car you have made. The best Pony in a long time.

4 out of 5 (power added would have given it a 5)
